1980-1983
Evangel actually began with a small group of believers meetings in the of home of Kay Henry of Sussex.
1983 the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada was approached by the Sussex Wesleyan Church regarding the Wesleyan church property at the corner of Main St. And Morrison Ave. On November 29,1983 officials from the PAOC met with the believers at the Henry home to discuss the purchasing of the property and the establishment of a new Pentecostal Church in the Sussex area.
1984 - 1986
Rev. Bemard and Ellen Kirkham were called to be it's first pastors with the opening service being held on July 1, 1984.
1986 - 1996
In 1986 Rev. Chuck and Eva Kelades became the second pastors. The Kelades enjoyed over 10 years of ministry at Evangel along with there three sons Chris, Josh, and Sam.
1996 - 2001
In 1996 Rev. Jeff and Rose Goodwin with their children Nick and Amy became the third to pastor this growing church. The Goodwins remained until the summer of 2001 during which time the sanctuary underwent very positive renovations.
2001-2006
In 2001 Rev. Evans and Judy Bleakney with their children Lorilee, Tracy, Duane returned to Sussex to pastor what was originally their home assembly. They stayed on in that role until 2006 during which time the church building underwent needed renovations.
2007 - 2009
In 2007 Rev. Stephen and Christianne Williams and their young family came to give leadership until June of 2009
2009
Our currant pastor is John and Carol Wassell. They were invited to come and pastor Evangel in November of 2009. They have three married children and seven grandchildren. They have served in various accepts of Christian ministry for over thirty years. They have a deep passion for God desiring to see the lost come to Christ and God's people living and enjoying a Holy Spirit empowered and filled life.
